Malaysia's esports scene is growing at a remarkable pace. Malaysians aren't just spectators anymore – many have become active participants in the esports community, following leagues live, memorising team statistics, and analysing market movements in ways that aren't so different from the most dedicated Malaysia Super League football fans. And just as conventional sports betting has grown in popularity, esports betting in 888king has also become one of the fastest-growing categories on our platform.
Why Malaysia specifically? Because this country has a deeply rooted, active esports scene. Mobile Legends: Bang Bang isn't just a mobile game here – it's a culture. MPL Malaysia Season 15 draws viewership numbers that rival Malaysia Super League football matches in terms of online audience. When local teams like Geek Fam MY or RSG Malaysia take the stage, there's a unique kind of excitement – like supporting JDT or Selangor FC, but in the digital arena. And betting on these local teams through 888king adds a whole extra layer of thrill you simply won't find anywhere else.
If there is one e-sports title that has truly become part of Malaysia's digital identity, it is ML:BB. Since its launch in 2016, the game has penetrated virtually every level of society — from school students to office workers playing during their lunch break. MPL Malaysia has produced stars who are now recognised across Southeast Asia. At 888king, markets for MPL Malaysia matches are fully open — over 20 market types per series, including overall winner, map handicap, map over/under, and in-play betting throughout the match.
The edge of betting on ML:BB at 888king over other platforms lies in local knowledge. If you follow MPL Malaysia regularly, you know each team's playstyle, the head-to-head record between local sides, and how the latest patch affects teams that rely on specific heroes. That information is an invaluable asset when you're analysing the odds offered by 888king and hunting for value bets.
"I've been following MPL Malaysia since Season 8. When 888king opened markets for local matches with competitive odds, I felt much more confident betting because I genuinely understand these teams. It's a completely different experience from betting on overseas football where my knowledge is limited."
– Hafizuddin R., Kuala Lumpur, 888king member since 2022For players who prefer an analytical, data-driven approach, DOTA 2 and CS2 offer a depth of analysis that is unmatched in esports. DOTA 2 boasts an exceptionally rich statistical pool — win/loss records by hero, map statistics, head-to-head records between teams within the same league, and much more. CS2, on the other hand, provides headshot rate statistics, tactical mapping and individual player performance records broken down by specific maps. All of this information is publicly available and can be used to make smarter betting decisions at 888king.
One key thing to keep in mind for both games is the importance of understanding tournament formats. CS2 uses a group stage format across multiple different maps, and team performance can vary significantly from map to map. A team that struggles on Nuke might be dominant on Inferno. Knowing each team's map strengths and weaknesses can give you a real edge when betting on more specific markets at 888king, such as first map winner or map handicap.
One of the features most loved by experienced e-sports bettors at 888king is in-play betting. During a live match, the situation can shift dramatically within minutes — a team that looks dominant early on can suddenly come under pressure when their opponents make adjustments. In ML:BB, an unexpected teamfight can completely flip the momentum of a game. In CS2, a single critical pistol round can turn the tide entirely.
888king players who follow matches live while tracking in-play odds movements often find better value opportunities compared to pre-match odds. It requires full concentration and quick decisions — but for those who know what to look for, in-play e-sports betting at 888king is one of the most thrilling experiences Malaysia's online betting scene has to offer.
